Years & Years, Annie Mac, and the Dreamwork Trolls – This Weeks European Trade Mark Filings

It’s been a busy week here at Rennick Solicitors, so I haven’t had a chance to go through the OHIM applications daily. I’ve carved out some space today however and gone through the 2,600 or so applications in the last week, and here’s some of the ones that stood out. It was announced a while ago, so it’s not breaking news or anything, but Dreamworks are making a trolls movie, and now they have the Trade Mark Filing to prove it: I’m not sure I’d personally pick this is a catchy name, but someone has, yes the KKKKKKKKKK. Concerned with the organisation of Horse Shows apparently: Everyone loves Years and Years, right? Course you do, well they’ve moved to protect their name: As, by conidcidence has Annie Mac: I didn’t know Blarney had a book, did you? Look at Kells there grabbing all the book glory: This is a bit of a controversial one in the context of the recent mass shooting in the US: Sure anybody can have a drone, but what about a waterproof one? Enter Splash Drone The BBC have applied for protection for Proms in the Park Huawei already have a smartwatch/exercise band out in the wild, but this Huawei Talkwatch could be something new altogether: I nominate Silvios, it’s the Takeaway Awards in association with Just Eat New Smelly Stuff from Stella McCartney: And just because it’s Christmas and I bought my sister’s Christmas present in the Body Shop for about 17 years running: I will be very interested to see if this gets registered, because as far as I’m concerned, this is very generic, and is a part of all sorts of logos already (Deep River Rock comes to mind straight away, as do many more) Madmax…..beer? Yeah, it’s registered for beer A very odd logo for Moschino…. And the Spartan Race seeks protection for it’s logo. It. Looks. Tough
